#018 AFTER SEEING YOU AND MOON WE SHALL BECOME LORDS OF WEALTH

BOOK 7, CHAPTER 10, VERSES 109 F

Sage : Badarayana (pr: Baadaraayan`a) - (another name Vyaasa).

Gods: : There seems to be a separate God for gambling with "Dice".

Procedure : There are seven verses from 109 A to 109 G. This is the sixthh verse. All the verses are to be used in this procedure.

The dice are to be first soaked in curd and honey for three nights.
Then they are to be sanctified by recitiing the seven verses three times.

Samvasava iti# noo naamadheeya#hm
Ugram pasya, raasht`ra bhritoo hya# kshaaha
Teebhyoo va Indavoo havisha vidheema
Vayam Sya#aama pata#yoo rayiin`aam.


#mark points: These are "stress" points. Vedic chants are sung using musical notes. The points where the tone reaches the zenith are "udaatta svaras" and the low tones are "unudaatta svaras". There is also rhythm to follow. These are to be learnt from competent teachers.

GIST
Oh Gandharvas! (a class of demy-Gods)- Because you are accomplished persons of wealth, you are called "Samvasus". (Vasu = rich; Sam = Prefix to indicate "very").
We are searching for you and the heavenly nymphs (apsaras) named "Ugram pasya, Raasht`ra bhrita". We are carrying for you and the Moon God, sacrificial oblations. After seeing you and the Moon, we shall become Lords of wealth.
